GLYCATION
What is Glycation…and how does it age my skin?
Along with free-radicals, glycation (AGEs) play a large role in the aging process, with sugar and the glycation process being major players in the aging of skin. Glycation occurs when glucose* molecules attach themselves to proteins in the body – which then react with other proteins causing a cross-linking bonding, or, advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which are result in large aggregates of damaged proteins that amass over time. They also have the ability to cause further tissue damage by interacting with free-radicals.
This cross-linking glycation process virtually causes skin to become stiff and brittle with loss of elasticity, sagging skin, and wrinkles.

Well…limiting sugar intake is a great step towards preventing AGE formation and does help retard the aging process.
